ive been asking him how he did and he lied and said he hadn't checked his results. Yesterday i had it out with him and he admitted that he had failed. He doesnt have a job, can't drive and as snobby as it sounds im worried about what he is going to do next, i want to support him but i am also disapointed, i know a degree isn't everything but to leave university after four years with nothing just seems terrible to me. Worst still he wont talk about it and doesnt seem to care all that much about what he is going to do next.

Any advice about how i can help him find some drive and get something done. I'm not sure what he is going to do next or how i can talk to him without making him feel bad. I'm aware this sounds negative, but i really think i will spend the rest of my life with him and now im not sure what our future holds

Tell him to keep trying, there is no law that you have to make it on the first attempts.

Run away. This guy is a loser and you really don't need to be trying to fix him up. The only way he is ever going to get his act together is if he decides to do it for himself, you are only providing him with excuses not to stand up for himself.

I can see where your coming from. My boyfriend is similar in ways. Highly laid back. He's only 2nd year university but failed two exams this year and it has irritated me because I've just finished with a first degree and I don't really like somebody who isn't motivated.
However you sound like you really love him and that's great. But you can't change a person's ways sometimes and trying to do that will only drive you crazy. My advice, take it or leave it, is maybe stay with him for a while and see how it all goes. Find something he is interested in and get him to work at it. If nothing changes maybe leave for the sake of your own mental and physical health.

If he won't talk to you about it, then there really is nothing you can do to help him. Maybe he is scared too and is unsure of what to do next which is why he is avioding talking about it. Give him a little time and if he still won't talk about it - maybe he just doesn't care. If he doesn't care about his future, and you care about yours, maybe you need to tell him that you have to move on until he figures his life out.
You can't make him have more drive, he needs to want to make his life better.
