i am 17 coming up 18 and i am studying my second year at college ofr my 4 alevels. i get £20 ema a week witch covers mt transport cost for the week.
i am loking for a saturday job but my step dad is expection e to pay rent. however i cannot aford it as i am at college 5 days a week and dont have time to have a job that will surport how much my step dad isexpecting in rent?

He is not your father and he is not required to support you while you go to college. Maybe you need to go to school only part time and work and pay rent. Maybe you can make an agreement with him to pay him a certain amount after you are working.

At this time in your life, i wouldn't make you pay any rent. Maybe just help around the house when you can.

What?? No! Not if you're still in full time education!

Get your Dad to talk to your local council, they'll put him in his place. My mother applied to get rent for me, and they told her that she couldnt be she is my parent.

Of course, she could have just thrown me out - but once she was told that she shouldnt expect rent off of her own young child, she dropped it.

If you were a couple of years older, or if you weren't in full time education, then yes - I would expect you to pay rent. But you're only 18 and you're doing 5 days a week at college!

Your step-dad is being VERY unfair.
