I would insist that the police are involved. This would show that you feel you have nothing to hide. It would also make your employer think twice about whether they really have any evidence. If he won't call the police he has no proof against you. You could then point out that making accusations of theft without any evidence is slander, and insist that he withdraws all the allegations and apologises to you.

it seems you stole something but because no proof has been shown you feel there is no right upon the employer to raise the matter. Well..... did you steal or not ?? If you did you deserve the sack at least. If you did not steal then stand by that even if some sort of "evidence" is alleged. If you are accused of stealing (and you did not steal) with no evidence whatsoever this could be constructive dismissal which is illegal. get a trade union on to it.

Ask to have a lie detector's test administered on you to show your boss you are telling the truth. Ask him what grounds he has on believing that you are the one that actually stole something.

You have been accused.

There are two premise why you are being accused of stealing.
1. The charges are true
2. You are falsely accused of stealing.

Now the question is-Did you steal or not? It is only you who could answer it thoroughly and with honesty. We are not all there to witness it nor been there with you so how can we know exactly what had happen.

Usually when a person accused another person just like in your case, the other party has had evidence that is why they are accusing you in the first place otherwise, if they do not have sufficient evidence then you can charge them with false pretention or libel.

The only thing you can do is fight it out in court to prove once and for all who is telling the truth here, either you are or they are. So if you done it you're in the loosing end.
