There are many arguments about National Service - some good and some bad.
Wouldn't it be better to put our teenagers into uniform rather than have them on the streets without a job?
What would be wrong in the teenagers having compulsory years in service where they learn a trade and self respect?

I think if they havent found a job by 18 or in full time education then yes National Service.

Yes. Be it military or civil service, I think it's a great idea. In addition to that, I think that the government should give them money for college for their service to their country. Oh yeah, that's right! Barack Obama already proposes this very idea. One that is viable, helpful to all and cost effective.

Straight from school is too young. You can't have 16 year old front-line troops.

Plus, what would you do about the kids who could have jobs at 16, or want to continue their education.

If you are going to have national service, it needs to happen when you are a bit older...
