...happens if you do nothing? If you have 28 days to pay the fixed fine of £60 and take 3 points, what if you do nothing? What will happen? What sort of evidence do they need to produce if they pass the info to the PF (Scottish case)? How long before you are likley to hear from them with a court date?
Also, has anyone ever had a case like this dropped? If so, why was it dropped? Did they give you a reason?
Also, has anyone went to court to defend this and won?

I don't think they would drop it.My sister was done for using her mobile.The police saw her and charged her.She was lost going for a job interview and needed directions.They would not accept any excuse.I think if you ignore it and let it go to court it would be a lot worse.

If you do nothing your Licence will be endorsed with the 3 points anyway plus any increase for failing to pay and/or they may increase the penalty for failing to pay and you will end up with court costs too, as they will definitely summons you. They will probolary issue a summons against you within 3 weeks of you failing to pay....
The only excuse I have heard is in a medical emergency, where the husband was on the way to the Hospital with his pregnant wife who was in labour. He was talking with the Hospital.

You get fined more by the court...you can elect a court hearing....the evidence may be either the word of the Officer involved or maybe video evidence of you using the phone...if you are guilty then what is the fuss over.....
