Not many networks do 12 month contracts now. You would get a better deal on an 18 month contract, possibly a lower price plan than if you were to take out a contract for 12 months. The contract needs to cover the cost of the phone and I know the N96 is one of the most expensive on the market.
A bit of advice, avoid Vodafone! I used to work there and the customer service is terrible! Plus they are the most expensive network provider in the UK.
