Default Does this news story put you off fad diets?

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/itn/20080723/tuk-brain-damaged-dieter-gets-payout-dba1618.html
A woman has been awarded more than £800,000 after suffering brain damage on a detox diet.
Dawn Page, 52, claimed she was told to drink more water and reduce her salt intake during The Amazing Hydration Diet. She suffered uncontrollable vomiting after starting the diet, but nutritionist Barbara Nash assured her it was part of the detoxification process. Mrs Page was less than a week into the regime when she suffered an epileptic fit and was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital in Swindon. Doctors were unable to prevent her suffering permanent brain damage and her memory, speech and concentration have been affected

to be honest i think most diet including fad ones wont really work not nless you can get to the gym as well or do alot of exercise each and every day!! I have been on nearly every diet under the sun and i can loose like 2 stone but then my body gets used to my calorie intake and starts putting weight on again so i cant keep the weight off, But i've been in college the past 3 years full time so didn't have the time for a job an therefore could not afford to go to the gym.

Now i've just left college i shall start going to the gym and a diet again this way the weight should stay off.

To be honest the main ways of making diets work is to be determind don't just diet do exercise as well, and lastley don't go on such diets as fad diets unless you know they are safe!!

I think that is crap! I have done many fad diets and if any of them made me sick I would stop immediately no matter what anyone else said. She was stupid to continue the diet even tho her body was telling her not to. This does not put me off fad diets only makes me thankful that I have some common sense!!

phwoar.. that's like sixteen million in real money! (kidding)

that is horrible that her nutritionist told her that uncontrollable vomiting was normal for that diet. if anything, the lesson should be to find a nutritionist with an inkling of common sense, or else try buying some for yourself.

I mean, you're supposed to get plenty of water, and all... I'd like to know the specifics of this diet. It's important to be hydrated but you don't want to be a dilute solution...
