Default net framework? i need help?

ok right my problem is that i i downloaded net framework 3.5 for my computer, my computer is running on service pack 2 but the net framework 3.5 doesnt give a description for what service back it is for?
i downloaded it and installed it but my computer seems to be a bit slower including that in my add and remove programms list is net framework 1 and 2 sp1...... WTF?

please i dont want anyone you is going to say should or maybe etc.... i would like someone who knows the answer thx.

more simple could you just tell me if it will work on sp2. thx

I'm running dotnet framework 3.5 on WIndows XP SP2 without problem. The dotnet framework 3.5 also installs the older dotnet frameworks as well for compatibility purposes.

System requirements for dotnet framework are at the bottom of this page:
