Sharing broadband net from desktop to laptop?

How do i get my 10meg internet from my pc desktop connected through to the laptop in the other room wireless so the laptop can have a internet connection.

the way i connect my pc to the internet is by using an ethernet cable to the modem box , but since i want to try and share the internet connection to the laptop how do i do it.

What will i need? what way do i connect it?

Laptop is Sony and has this built in wireless thing, there's like a button where you can turn on the wireless LAN or something to detect internet so im sure theres a way.

The back of my desktop has 1 spare Ethernet port too if that helps
