Default Net Mums users .... any advice on meeting up with another Mum?

i go on Net Mums quite a lot as and I think its a brilliant site! especially as i moved to a different area and don't know many people with babies
any way i got talking to a women about my age and we have sons the ame age (about 10 months) so we decided to meet up tomorrow we are going to take them to a soft play area at my local leisure centre and theres a cafe we can have a coffee at there too, i am really nervous about it as were nearly total strangers we have seen one another on Facebook and that's it! I don't want to say something stupid obviously we have the babies in common but we don't want to talk baby talk the whole time!because i think if we do that it may seem we are trying to out do each other if one baby is more advanced then the other. any advice on how to about this meeting, has any body else been in the same situation? i know i should just be myself but its still a bit daunting!

Well...try not to take it too seriously. You're both meeting in the hope that you click...and can be friends. But if you dont click then nothing is lost because you at least tried....just tell her...in a lighthearted way..like I'd say, "Gosh isn't it silly...I feel like the new girl at school!" or something...you can talk about the babies...that is what you have in common after all...but you can also ask about where she went to school, if she works, if she stays at home does she plan on working again....people like to talk about themselves...but I am sure that once you get in there you'll be fine!

i wish i could help you!
i'm on the site, too, but haven't actually met anyone.
I made a few online friends, but when it comes to actually meeting them..
good luck though, you should go meet them.
i'm sure you'll find somethign to talk about.
maybe meet & have lunch, that way you can talk about food, or just eat, because you can't speak with your mouth full anyway!!
