Default Trying to reinstall Windows XP but it keeps saying "Setup cannot continue

because the version of Windows....? ...on your computer is newer than the version on the CD"

The version on the CD is XP! And I have XP on the computer. I was told to go to control panel and delete all the windows xp updates but it still will not let get get any further on reinstallation!

If you are doing a complete re-install then it will wipe all other data and not worry about updates, are you sure you've not tried to repair window's instead?

Why not try to go back to a restore point to see if that solve's your problem?

If your OS CD is a bootable one, you can reinstall OS by booting from that CD. It is the best ever option of reinstallation of OS.

No that is not the correct way to reinstall windows. Lot more to it then that. You have to format the computer, then you can reinstall windows. This will remove all your data. Refer to your computers manual for steps, they should be easy to follow.
