My windows XP firewall keeps disabling itself.?

Every few hours , and upon every reboot the thing is disabled.

If someone knows what is causing this , or has a way to fix this please reply.

If you're going to tell me to install another firewall PLEASE don't bother replying , I just want to know what's causing this.

I am , according to the latest avast anti virus , and ad-aware , virus and spyware free.
no other installed firewall or security package or all in one virus killer + firewall .. nope

Plain vanilla XP + plain virus killer only.
God i knew this would happen..

I checked the service dependencies , and their dependencies, everything is running fine.

again .. i have no other firewall software installed nor do i want to have any installed .

My system is protected from the exterior just fine by the firewall running on a linux machine acting as a router.

The problem is not me wanting a firewall, the problem is windows doing something it shouldn't , hence there is something wrong with it , and i would like that fixed.

I don't want to bury my head in the sand , pretend everything is ok , and install a useless firewall over everything .

There is probably a problem with the Windows Firewall Service. Go to Run and type services.msc and look for the Firewall service. Ensure that none of the services it depends on are turned off or configured wrong.
