I very much like the feel of Windows XP, and someone mentinoed that Windows Vista Basic is very similar to that. Someone on here mentioned that it's no good, can you give me some reasons as to why it's good or bad?
Vista Home Basic doesn't have the look of XP. I went from XP to Vista Home Basic and then back to XP. If you are on Vista most likely you have the option of selecting a classic or XP-style theme, but the default theme of Vista is definitely not XP.
It doesn't have additional capabilities that other versions of Vista have. Just google for vista which version or something like that, for a site or two that can explain the differences. For me, it was just too flaky, mainly refusing to come out of sleep, (but that was not a Home Basic issue--others with other versions of Vista had it as well) so I downgraded to XP and all is well.
Windows Vista is a more secure kernel than XP, and has great support for IPv6 and other great networking additions. On that same note, it is also resource hungry, and still lacking a bit in driver support. In general, I hate Windows, and prefer Linux/Unix. Make sure you have the hardware to run Vista, otherwise you will be angry at how slow it runs. 2GB of decent (800MHZ or more is best) RAM and a reasonable processor made recently should run it fine.
people on the internet believe anything they hear so when they say that vista sucks its because they have never used it or are too stupid to know how. Vista is great, easy to use and just plain awesome. The reason why people say vista sucks is because whne the OS first came out a while back there were alot of problems with it. Now, Vista is good. just dont get basic, that really is bad , home premium is ALOT better
