What's the latest on linux for PS3?

I read about Yellow Dog, Ubuntu, and Fedora 7 being installed, but many people seem to experience problems with it (mainly the installers just not working properly, or being given poor advice). Just looking for something that I can have some fun with - play MAME arcade games, use skype or other instant messenger, or send web email.
