Linux/ubuntu?

For some reason i thought linux and ubuntu were the same thing, am i right ?
So ubuntu is a variation of linux as is fedora, mandriva

No u r wrong, ubuntu is based on linux but there r many other better distros.

All ubuntu does is take what others distros create and package it for themselves, try others like openSUSE, Mandriva or Fedora.
