Does anyone know of a guide to be able to boot linux from an external hard drive...
...while keeping windows.? I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 with with Windows XP Media Centre on it. I want to be able to when turning on the computer to be able to go onto Windows, but when an external USB hard drive is plugged in get the option of booting to Ubuntu Linux or Windows. Does anyone know of a step by step guide to installing Ubuntu Linux onto a 500gb external hard drive and configuring the bios so that on booting if an external hard drive is plugged in I get the choice of either Windows or Ubuntu?
