UK Age Laws. How old to book/check into a hotel?

I've found little help on the elsewhere on the internet so I was wondering if anyone here could help me out. Me and a few friends are hoping to book a hotel in London after an evening out but were unsure whether we would be able to. Is there any specific laws for how old you have to be to check in/book a hotel within the UK and if so, what are they? Any help greatly appreciated.

I think you have to be 18, but you could ring your preferred hotel and ask, maybe your parents can confirm with the manager your reservation, ot what about a youth hostel?

You can't enter into a binding contract until you are 18, which might present problems if the receptionist required proof of age.
