No .. Scottish Consumer Law is very similar to English, which ( briefly & edited for you ) says that in some circumstances the goods 'might' be expected to last for up to 5 yrs. (It's six in England ).
This obviously depends upon the goods, the normal expected use for those goods and life expectancy. After six months and up to the normal expected life of the product you might have some rights to either partial refund, replacement, repair - all depending upon a fair account of the value you have already had from the product.
Some goods, electrical or otherwise are clearly never intended to last for very long.
After the first six months the burden of proving the claim that the goods should have lasted longer and that you are entitled to some form of compensation / damages is up to the consumer - until then the presumption is that the goods were not fit for purpose.
