Default My father in law has been driving in the UK for 16 years with no license.?

My father in law has been driving with no UK license for the past 16 years although he has held a a full license from his country since he was 17 years old. He has been caught by a speeding camera and now doesnt know what to do. His car is taxed, insured and MOT'ed. What will happen to him? Will he get a prison sentence?

If his car is taxed the registered owner will have shown a valid license. If it isn't registered to him then the speeding fine will go to the car owner anyway and it is up to the car owner to pay or drop your father in law in the proverbial brown stuff.

If he gets caught driving with an illegit lisence then he is NOT insured and will be done for driving without a license and insurance. Usually a fine and a ban.

He could be in serious trouble. You don't need to be able to drive to own a car,but obviously you can't drive it without some sort of British licence,be it a provisional(with a full licence holder sat with you),or a Full licence.
Your father in law will be getting fined for Speeding,Driving without a licence and possible Non insurance,as the insurance he has is void,as you can't insure a non licence holding driver.
I don't know what will happen to him,but he will most certainly be banned from driving, which maybe for a few yrs before he can even consider taking a driving test.

Yes most certainly. He deserves to as well.

If you break the law, you must face the consequences.

Let's hope he does get a prison sentence. He broke the law and he knew he was doing it. Sorry but I have no sympathy.
