This really is panicking about nothing. It is not so different to the suspension of sharia law in the compounds in Saudi Arabia for western people.
The acceptance of sharia law into the British legal system is not about it superceding British law, it is about dispute resolution that British law may not be so effective in dealing with.
For example, Sharia marriage is not recognised here for immigration purposes, and that will not change. What would change is the ability for those marriages already in existence to have their disputes and resolutions recognised. Similarly, financial disputes and resolutions could become recognised.
All this means is that the two systems work along side of each other and resolve matters without having to resort to two courts hearing the same case.
Sharia law could never have any effect on people who aren't Muslim, and similarly, Muslims could never be exempt from British law if they live here, or are British subjects.
