...requested under uk law? my landlord is being awkward and i need a copy of the tenancy agreement but think they may try and be funny about it. i could dowith quoting the law.

The worrying thing is that you mention you already have a landlord and have not already got and signed a copy of the tenancy agreement.

You should have read, agreed and signed this before you moved in - unless you have a witness to the 'deal' in this case a verbal contract exists.
