can't download java! please help?

i cannot download java, i got to the website, it starts to install and then stops.
i've been trying for weeks!
can anyone help?
can i get it anywhere else?

Un-install your old java version and any other versions you may have in add/remove programs, then download the latest java direct link for the offline installer: http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=24935

Make sure you have java enabled: Open IE>Click on Tools > Manage Add-ons > Enable or Disable Add-ons>On the manage Add-ons screen>Click on the icon next to the words “Sun Java Console” Then click the “Enable” checkbox in the settings section

Sometimes some AntiVirus and Spyware software block the activex
