Default O2 Mobile Contract Upgrade Time Frame?

I was wondering whether someone could tell me whether if you take out a 12 month O2 contract whether after say 6 months or when a new phone becomes available whether you can upgrade without having to wait for your 12 months to end? Also please could someone tell me what the logic is behind recieving an upgrade, I have been a lot of phone being sold on Ebay (top of the range) which are unwanted upgrades? What does someone have to do to ensure that when upgrade time comes along that they recieve the top of the range model?

Hiya Paul! Whether its 12 months or 18,you are able to contact customer services to negotiate an upgrade and a new contract! My network sent me details on a new handset,to choose from! When you do talk to them, ask them about the devices firmware it operates on! To check your present handset software firmware! Press the keypad thus : *#0000# to view the version its running on!
