Default Why have people got such a problem with gaming?

I dont get why so many people be them parents, girlfriends or wifes have such an issue with someone who is gaming for 4-6 hours a day. Its ok for them or others to watch tv for this long but its not ok to game for that long and in my opinion its more mentally stimulating to game than it is to watch tv?

i actually heard it reduces stress playing shooter games for a few hours a day. and maybe they dont like it because they never tried it, theyve just seen the comercials and seen how "bad" and "violent" these games potentially are.

I totally agree with you and I hate it very much. It really gets on my nerves. It's the media's fault, they always say it's bad or that it makes you stupid or that kind of bullshit.

I think it's pointless to try and argue that point. I get what your saying, with the whole TV watching thing, but you have to understand that people like parents, and wives don't like their son or husband playing videogames because they do not like videogames. They think it's a waste of time because they have no interest in it. They may say you're lazy, but really they just don't want you to do something they themselves find pointless. Everyone watches TV alot, and no one really complains because everyone is pretty much interested in watching TV. So, i'll ask you this: If you had to sit down and watch a little kid play with toys for 4-6 hours, how would you feel?

I agree. It's got to be more productive than sitting around. Maybe 4-6 hours is a bit much though.
