Default Is freedom of speech in the world of football a thing of the past?

Blatter has said that he thinks Manchester United should let Cristiano Ronaldo leave. So? Everybody has an opinion, don't they?

The reaction to his comments are ridiculous. People are calling him all sorts of names, but if he's such an idiot as people make him out to be, why do his comments matter so much?

He has an opinion, and as a major name in European football he is allowed to voice that opinion.

Why is it such an issue?
Lion of Judah:
Yeah, he went way over the top but still...what he said is pretty much the same as what I've heard loads of people say. He's not alone with his thoughts, but he gets slated because of his position.
TJ:
Actually, I would WANT Torres to leave if that was the situation. I'd welcome Blatter's comments.
Carolyn:
But people asked him about it! Is he supposed to say "No comment" every time he's asked about it? Or lie about what he thinks?
XY:
Like I explained to TJ, I would welcome Blatter's comments if Torres or Gerrard were in Ronaldo's situation.

Oh, and I don't hate Manchester United at all. I hate the so-called "fans" who have to use "coz were betta than u" in every "explanation" they try to give for their ridiculous comments.

You only say this because he plays for a club you hate. Simple.

The guy has and his brown-nosing friend Platini have something against English football as a whole and don't be surprised if they start on Liverpool soon.

Don't contradict yourself, we have a right to freedom of speech too you know.

I don't know whats wrong with people nowadays. Blatter has a right to comment on any soccer issue because he's the FIFA president and even if he isn't that doesn't matter.

I don't know why people are taking the statement badly??

of course everyone has the right to say their opinion, (you should know!! LOL!) but Sepp Blatter should stay out of individual cases like Ronaldo's, its not his place to say what should or shouldnt happen.

He should stay neutral or not say anything at all, considering the position he holds.

he's said out of order stuff before, no doubt he'll stay stuff like this again.

Sure he does have the right to his own opinion. The criticism he is getting is stupid. But its because what he is saying goes against the rules we have nowadays. Everyone is getting angry because players are starting to leave before their contracts run out. If we allow this to continue what power does a contract have if a player can leave whenever he feels like it?

Honestly I wouldn't like the player to be forced to stay at my club. But at least have a mutual agreement instead of one player trying to take control. Alex doesn't want him to go

Plz don,t make any argument ronaldo will be in Manchester United for the upcoming season, because real madrid have not chance now to sign the player, also Fernando torres is not for sell as the Liverpool said before

come on to suggest he's a slave is outragous.. i'm sure not many slaves have been payed £15,000 a week now have they....

man utd own his contract, which he signed, if they do not want to release him then there's nothing he can do..

sebb blatter should keep his nose out of things that don't concern him.. it's not a fifa matter, but a matter of contract, hence he should button up

No the problem they are not!
1) It is a Utd player so you don't care! If it was Torres he was saying it about you would be in uproar!
2) He is a member of Real Madrid!! Need I say anymore??

TJM

EDIT: Above try £100,000 a week....slavery its desperate
ain't it?
EDIT 2: Mate do you not find it strange that Blatter is a member of Real Madrid?? I do! And you would be bitter if say Chelsea took Torres...you would feel betrayed and disgusted as we do with Ronaldo---we stood up for him after the 2006 world cup when he was getting booed at every other ground!!
