Default Do you think Hawk-eye should be brought into football?

This is the video replay they use in sports like tennis to judge if the correct call has been made; http://www.hawkeyeinnovations.co.uk/
They wouldn't be able to challenge everything, they would have about 3 challenges for every match. This would get rid of stupid mistakes that cost teams matches.

not that easy
first of all u must understand that every rules n regulations in football must first be accepted by FIFA
and let me tell u
as long as this Hawk-eye system costs a lot, it will never be accepted by FIFA

u may call me an idiot as 'those top leagues can afford any expensive system'
BUT
what about the smaller leagues?
let alone those in asia n africa, some national leagues in europe dont seem to be up to the standard
what FIFA wants is standardization accross the globe
which is why they rejected the chip proposal after experimenting in the U-17 World Cup in 2005

the best is Hawk-eye used in top European leagues
all those who can afford the high cost of it
and for your info
even in tennis only the top level competitions deploy this system

Why????????????????There's that many tv cameras at a football game these days, you can see an ant crawling across the pitch. It's not rocket science....a video ref, like in rugby and cricket solves all the problems....Slow the game down?wake up....these idiots throwing themselves on the floor adds 5 minutes on to all games these days...The money game is scared stiff of change and will be left well behind if it doesn't get it's pathetic head out of the sand.......

why? you would have to stop the game every ten seconds to see if the ref or linemen were right - it would never work as a spectator sport anymore

Definately. When it is down to the ref's discretion to whether the ball has crossed the line. The ref's decision in that sense, could cost football teams millions of pounds if the teams are relegated.

It should only be used on goal decisions.

I like the idea but I also like the idea that a football game in the wold cup final will be judged exactly like a football game will be judged in some 14-year olds league- that is, with a single referee.

Even if yo've only played one game when you were this age it gives you something everyone can relate to, I think in just having a referee and some assistants, the game is kept like it should be. I think it would change the game too much and love football exactly the way it is. Decisions go against you but two weeks later they will go for you, they average out.

It is inconceivable that the timer on the game would be stopped for a machine to verify if a ball went over a line. The time ticks on always.

Call me old fashioned but I really don't like this machinery in sports, in cricket it interrupts the game, and cricket is a hard game to interrupt the flow of. In tennis they've been smart by giving it a "3 appeals" edge. With football I think it would just take away from the passion.

Plus you have the finance practicalities, many of these lower league prefessional sides in the UK are close to administration, every penny counts. This is an unnessecary expense.
