The team's highest achievement was reaching 3rd place at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Turkey also reached the knockout round of Euro 2000, the semi-finals of Euro 2008 and finished 3rd in the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup. Turkish football has been on the rise in the 21st century. And with some of the best young talents around, their future does really look bright...

Young talents include :
GK Aykut Erçetin Galatasaray S.K.
GK Hakan Ar?kan Be?ikta? J.K.
GK Özden Öngün Çaykur Rizespor
GK Orkun U?ak Galatasaray S.K.
DF Yasin Çakmak Fenerbahçe S.K.
DF Can Arat Fenerbahçe S.K.
DF Ümit Özat FC Köln
DF Tolga Seyhan Trabzonspor
DF Bekir ?rtegün Gaziantepspor
DF Volkan Yaman Galatasaray S.K.
MF Hüseyin Çim?ir Trabzonspor
MF Yusuf ?im?ek Bursaspor
MF Serdar Kurtulu? Be?ikta? J.K.
MF Selçuk ?ahin Fenerbahçe S.K.
MF Zafer Yelen Hansa Rostock
FW Umut Bulut Trabzonspor
FW Ümit Karan Galatasaray SK
FW Fatih Tekke FC Zenit Saint Petersburg
FW Hasan Kabze Rubin Kazan

But the tag of comeback kings is unfair to them. They are actually a decent side. And they can hold themselves together against any great side. Give credit where it's due.

Oh yeh, I thought they did a GREAT job against Germany and really deserved to win that match.

If Turkey keeps improving at this rate, they can take the 2010 World Cup just like that.

Good weren't they? Even without a few of their most crucial players. Yes the future's looking bright for Turkish football - it's got to be a boost at all levels of their game, success always is - and it'll help them find money and resources to attract outside players and to stregthen their league, which is already good, of course. Success breeds success and good luck to them. Watching their work-rate and their enthusiasm and belief last night brought it home to me why the England team weren't there. I'm sorry Turkey lost!

Well, they made it to the World Cup 2002 semi-finals so the expectations now are that they should win a big tournament. But they need to at least keep making it to the semi stage to be considered in the same league as other European Powers.
Doesn't it bother you that your long-time hated Rivals Greece has a Euro championship and you don't?
