Making a time capsule, what would you put into it?
This is a serious and legitimate question.
I'm making a time capsule and would like to know if anyone else has done this. What sort of things / messages would you put into it if you knew that it might get dug up in say a thousand years from now? What message would you put into it - humorous and serious messages? Bearing in mind, that a CD ROM disk will probably not be in use in the year 3000 as they wont have the means to play it! I am still going to put a disk into the capsule anyway - just in case they will be able to play it!!
AND, how would you prepare it so that it's contents would not degrade? The canister or container is obviously the most important item because it needs to last and protect the contents.
Limited budget and resources. I've only got a large empty tin of Cadbury's Roses and about a fiver to spare. I have baco foil that I thought may prevent degradation.
Your ideas would be greatly appreciated. England's history is counting on us.
