i need help please, about the web hosting?

i am in charge of creating a website for my university hockey team. i have been put in charge of it this year.
the last person in charge said that the hosting has run out and i need to buy a new one and they will transfer the domain across.
i need to know who is a good web hosting service to go with in the uk.
the site is for general infomation on matches, socials and upload som pictures etc. with some pictures and maybe a forum or something. i want to be able to edit the fonts, backgrounds and layouts etc... so i can make it more modern and professional looking (although nothing too fancy as its not a business, just for team mates and potential players) as i am a graphic designer and like things to look pretty :P

so if you have any good suggestions on a web hosting service in uk, please help me out
also it can't be too expensive as we only have a small amount of club money with we have to raise....
