Quite common, unfortunately. It's not unknown for the fronts to go in as little as about 9,000, particularly on the original Continentals. I see Ford are now fitting Michelin . . . I wonder why.

You don`t say what make of tyres you have
been using ?.
Cheap budget tyres will not last long also what
journeys they have been subjected too ?
A better make of tyre like Michelin would
be a better bet also have the tracking
and alignment of all the wheels checked,front
and back.Check wheels for buckling plus
wheel balancing.
PS.Mine do over 30,000 on a Citroen C4
