Default Ford Focus C-Max 54reg Alternator?

We brought a Ford focus c-max a couple of years ago, and recently the alterntator has broken, its not charging the battery like it should be...

I looked it up on the interner, and this is a known ford focus c-max problem. Has anyone had a problem like this before? and if they have, how did it work out? did Ford Replace the parts without question? or did you have you have to pay??

Also, we dont have a warrenty, but ive never had a car alternator break before, and ive had alot of cars in my lifetime. Do you reckon ford will give some money towards it? or will we have to stump up??

Thanks everyone.
oh, and its a 2.0 Tdci. Zetec if that helps...
and its has 45k on the clock

if it is to old then ford will not do anything for you. I have had plenty ofalternator'ss replaced but I did my own. ford, chevy, and dodge
. if you know of someone who has worked on cars before take it to them, but first you will have to buy the part yourself. call around to auto parts stores and ask for a refurbished oneITt will beallott cheaper than a brand new one, unless you can afford to put money out for brand new. also try junkyards, if you get one from there take it to an auto parts store and have it tested it usually is free.

Usual Ford rubbish, there's no way they'll help you out cost wise for an alternator. You're looking at about £250 for the part.
