Default Crashing (high school) subjects...?

Basically, I'm in 5th year atm, and I had intended to pursue something in languages after I left school, but recently due to certain events my mind keeps coming back to Medicine. I'd always kind of had passing thoughts about it before but I come from a family of linguists so they've always kind of pushed me in that direction.

So I was wondering; would it be possible to gain entrace to a medicine course at uni if I crashed the necessary subjects in sixth year? The problem is that it's not even just one thing I'd need to start. I'm already doing Higher Chemistry, but next year I'd be looking at crashing Biology as well as Higher Maths, and possibly Physics if it would help.
I was just thinking that unis would possibly look down upon this since I suppose the majority of people applying would have known they wanted to do it long ago and already passed all the required subjects... so, really, should I just forget about this as a lost cause or cram everything into next year? I'm willing to study as intensely as possible to squeeze it out if I have the slighest chance, but I'd rather be realistic and not waste a year on something I'll never be able to follow up...
